Precision grinding is a subdivision of the abrasive cutting process. In the process, a machine tool equipped with a grinding wheel is used to accurately remove material from the workpiece and maintain very strict tolerances. The precision grinding equipment can be controlled manually or by computer numerical control (CNC).

Just like using a hand-held angle grinder, the working principle of precision grinding equipment is to rotate the grinding wheel at high speed relative to a fixed workpiece. When the grinding wheel is in contact with the material surface, the grinding wheel removes small particles to reform the surface. By strictly controlling the number of contact points and the materials to be removed, and through multiple test operations, each operation will take away more materials, the device can maintain very strict dimensional and geometric tolerances and a smoother surface finish.

Precision grinding applications: Precision grinding usually requires higher precision and material finish specifications than traditional machining. Any application that requires tight flatness or profile tolerances is usually a good choice.
